That’s how long Joe has been serving the poor and homeless in Harlingen.
He started in 1993 as a dishwasher when Loaves & Fishes was located in what is now the New York Deli.
He has served at least three million meals in the last quarter century.
Being the kitchen manager at Loaves & Fishes requires a special set of skills. People who eat in our dining hall are often vulnerable, sometimes undesirable, always needing to be treated with dignity.
The stories he can tell! Most of them are not the kind to be printed.
Jesus said, “When I was hungry, did you give me something to eat?”
October 25th was his last day.
God’s blessings, Joe. We don’t know how we’ll manage without you.
