Extreme Weather Policy

Loaves & Fishes is a night shelter. We do not have enough room to keep people on the premises during the day. During extreme weather conditions the Bread of Life Dining Hall is kept open for shelter clients and community members to avoid the perils of extreme weather. The dining hall is kept open for the community if temperatures are higher than 95 degrees or the heat index reaches extreme conditions. Similarly, the dining hall is kept open if the temperature falls below 50 degrees or the wind chill factor is extreme. The decision to keep the dining hall open is based on the daily conditions, heat, cold, rainfall, wind and heat index or wind chill factor.

We want to help the most vulnerable in our community avoid adverse health effects of extreme weather.
